became a member of the "Tunnel Society", a lower-middle-class society,
where he met Heinrich Laube and Karl Herloßsohn. His arrangement
from Mozart's "Zauberflöte-overture" was written for his friends of
the "Tunnel". |

with Philipp Reger and with Philipp Düringer, who became his first

Schmidt appointed Lortzing to "Kapellmeister". He began his new career
as a conductor with a performance of Mozart's Don Giovanni on 10 August. |

wrote his Revolutionary opera, Regina. It was never produced in his lifetime,
